Historic Fort Totten Trail – Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge Leg

Located 26 miles north of Jamestown along the east side of the James River in the Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge, this leg of the National Recreation Trail features trailer parking, hitch posts, fire ring/grill, picnic area, restrooms, and a boat launch. This trail is part of a longer historic trail that connects the former military posts of Fort Seward near Jamestown, ND and Fort Totten on the south shores of Devil’s Lake. The trail provides quality opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. This trail is 9 miles in length and can accommodate hiking, biking, and horseback adventurers.

Pipestem Horse Camp & Trail

Located just north of Jamestown, the Pipestem Horse Camp and Trail, on the north side of Pipestem Lake, offers corrals, tether lines, trailer sites, close proximity to boat docks, and access to a 5-mile trail. The trail is just west of Parkhurst Campground and winds over rolling prairie with a view of the lake and its tree-lined shore.
