On the north edge of town, close to all the amenities, the Jamestown Reservoir and Pipestem Dam and Lake are the most developed fishing areas. Spiritwood Lake (fifteen miles northeast) also features a wonderful spot for recreation, breathtaking sunsets, and great fishing. Small Mouth Bass are abundant along with Walleye, Zander, Perch, Crappie, and Northern Pike.

The Jamestown area is a migration stop for countless species of big game, small/upland game, furbearers and waterfowl.
Stutsman County has some great prospects for waterfowl, deer, and upland game hunting. Pipestem Lake, Jamestown Reservoir and Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge have lands that are open to the public. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department can provide information on Conservation PLOTS and licensing.
North Dakota is 2nd in the nation in the production of ducks and the Wetlands, Riparian Areas and Prairies in the Heart of Central Flyway and Prairie Pothole Region.

Little Britches is a stocked fishing pond right across the road from the Jamestown Reservoir and 1/10 of a mile south of Lakeside Marina.
Little Britches fishing pond is available for young anglers 12 and under.
