Birding Drives Dakota, a devoted nonprofit, has worked with professional biologists, ornithologists and national wildlife refuges to create nine birding drives within a few miles of Jamestown.
Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge is north of Jamestown and was established as a breeding ground for migratory birds. Birding Drives Dakota hosts the Prairie and Potholes Festival here every June and Arrowwood hosts the Big Sit in October.
